Meet Chef Jamie
Hi there! I’m a native Houstonian and a freelance chef serving the greater Houston area. To me, food is about a few things above all — connection, belonging, and nourishment. My goal is to make good food feel less like an exclusive club and more like a warm invitation.
I left one of my passions — teaching — for another. Since making the switch 5 years ago, I’ve worked and studied in cooking schools, fine dining kitchens, and catering companies. I have been serving personal chef clients since 2022.
I was lucky enough to grow up around excellent home chefs and food lovers, eager to pass the craft down. I remember passing shrimp and crab legs to my dad to shuck, and my hands remember when I had to start handling those pointy, barb-covered legs myself. The whole family would get excited to try a new recipe, spending a couple of days planning for it.
The first time I was set loose in the kitchen was at 9 years old, at my grandmother’s house. I don’t remember what I made, only that I was free to improvise and be creative. That’s the “Jam” part of Kitchen Jam.
